If I dont itemize do I still input the information for my mortgage interest? Whats the point if I cant use it as a deduction if i dont itemize?

Can I use my son who be born 1-3-08 as a write stale on my 2007 taxes?

I am doing my 2007 taxes with TurboTax software.
When TurboTax asks me to detail my dependents, can i only schedule my son who was born surrounded by 2004? I feel grotesque not putting in my son who be born January 3, 2008, but since he was born contained by 2008, does that mean i can't even include him at adjectives?
Just to see what TurboTax would do, I put my son who born in 2008 on my taxes it go up $500 for my Federal refund. Shouldn't it jump up $1000 if it was OK to put him on my 2007 taxes? And shouldn't the software perceive that i used a 2008 date and say that my son does not qualify?

Sorry for so plentiful questions.
My most important question is a short time ago.. Can i put my son who was born surrounded by January 2008, on my 2007 taxes?

Thanks.

Answers: Short and simple...NO! Only those children born by Dec 31st, 2007 can you claim as a dependent and therefore qualify for the child rates credit when you are filing your 2007 return. You'll know how to claim him next year though! :)
No.

For 2007 taxes, time stops as of midnight 12/31/2007. Whatever happen after that point is irrelevant.
12-31-2007
only one son
sorry you can individual use him on your 2008 return since he was born after dec 31, 2007.

Hey atleast you enjoy something to look fwd to for next year's taxes! and if you rate someone to care for him while you work or look for work you can also claim a child & dependent protection deduction which will also attach to your return next year! but you can use it for your elder son in 2007 if you discharge dependent care expenses.
No sorry, but the child born contained by 2008 can't go on your 2007 duty return.

Yes the software should have notice, but software does have bugs and conceivably you just found one - that doesn't expect that you can claim him. And once you run into a software bug, there's no telling only what it will do.
Nope.
