Taxes Questions and Answers

Need to file my taxes...can't find my son's birth cert. or ss #. Can I file without them & still get credit?

Answers: Is your son in pre-school or school? They would have a copy of his birth certificate, immunization records. Or, you may want to call the Birth Records dept. of the hospital/state he was born in and request a duplicate copy. Then, you would take this to your local Social Security office and request a duplicate Social Security card.
You need the ss#. Call your local ss office and ask them to help you get a replacement card.

Can I do a mock tax form online to see how much return I will get?

Answers: Go to the H&R Block calculator, input your data and get a good estimate of your taxes and refund:

You can use the free calculators or fill out an efile part of the way through without sending it on turbo tax's website.
Here's a link
My website has such a capability. Nothing to pay until you decide you'd like efile it or print the return for mailing.

Federal is $14.95 or $19.95
State is $5.00

It's easiest using the forms method instead of the interview, but using the interview helps you address items you might not know about otherwise.

Biggest benefit of my site over Turbo Tax is that all information you enter on my website stays in the U.S. Turbo tax is produced by Intuit - maker of QuickBooks. They have most of their customer service for their various software in India. My software is produced by a NC company who does NOT outsource anything.

I encourage us to all support U.S. companies. Who knows when your job might be the next to be outsourced to a foreign country.

Good Luck!

Yes, you can. If you don't have a ss# just make one up to see what the outcome will be. Don't file with a made up number or it will be rejected and delay your refund.

I suggest to all my friends to try to do their taxes their self and see what they get. Then come to me and see if I can get them more money. If I can't they are not obligated to accept the return and can file their return knowing they are getting the proper refund. Most people miss a lot of deductions by not understanding a question in the online programs and accept the return I prepare.

I already file taxes but only received an startling W2, will it thing?

We received a w2 for $113 from a company that he hasnt worked for since mid2006.
I dont know why they sent it but we already filed.
Will such a small amount gross a difference?

Answers: Yes, it matters. You own to file an amended return on a form 1040X showing ALL of your income for the year if the W-2 say 2007. But if he didn't work for them in 2007, give the name them first and ask them what this is for.
it might. I forgot to include a w-2 with my 2005 return it be $3,000 they taxed me on it the following year i freshly had my 2007 due return attached to pay the penalty and the amount that i owed cause the missing money made me step into a differnet tax bracket. it artificial my state, federal, and renters rebate checks. sonow in 2008 i am have alot fun trying to get any money from this years return. you probably should dance file an amended return purely to be safe. :0) Mayhem
