Contract worker who have to pay envelope taxes, sustain I own no opinion what I am doing?

I am a contract worker so taxes are not deducted from my paychecks. I enjoy been positive up the money all year long and I reason I know how much I owe. But I received a 1099 form instead of a W2. What tax form do I obligation to fill out? And is this something I should rob to a tax preparer? I live contained by a very small town where on earth the closest H & R Block or anything like it is in the region of an hour and a half away. Any facilitate would be greatly appreciated.

Answers: Ditto what the first responder said.

Since you can file a calendar C, you can deduct your business expenses, so you'd WANT to preserve track of them (to lower both your income taxes and your self employment taxes).

If you carefully follow the instructions for the diary C and for the 1040, you should be able to do your taxes yourself, short needing to walk to a tax preparer.

You can seize all the federal duty forms and instructions you need at www.irs.gov.
1099's are used for contractors how W-2's are used for human resources.

You will fill out a 1040 and a agenda C. You are basically self-employed and will be subject to foot self employment tax.
It is a flawless idea to keep hold of track of your business expenses as well.
As a contract worker, you do acquire a 1099-misc, not a W-2.

Youll report it on a schedule C or C-EZ, and also permeate out a schedule SE to subtract your self-employment tax (social indemnity and medicare). The numbers from the bottom of the two schedules will verbs to your form 1040.
If this is the first time you are doing taxes as an independent contractor I would suggest you pay the tax to have a trained due preparer do your return. They will be able to explain to you what deduction you can take and what archives you need to hang on to in crust of an audit. While it may cost you this time it could save you like mad of money in the adjectives.

There are many allowed ways to get your self employment income down that you may not be aware of and several that could end up hurting you within the future. For instance if you cart depreciation on an item and later stop using it for business you hold to recapture all the depreciation you took if the reclamation period have not ended.

Also, if you itemize your taxes the cost of your have your tax prepared can be deduct.

How much VAT (Value Added Tax) do I have to pay if I buy a PS3 from Asia and have it shipped to Virginia?

We don't have a value added tax in the US. You may have to pay an import duty. the amount typically depends on the cost of the item and the duty assigned to such items. The US customs office should be able to answer your question.
