How tons exemptions/dependents do I claim?
My wife and I are filing "Married Filing Jointly". She is 20 years antiquated and is a student and I provide all of the income, although she did work for a few months at the dawn of the year. Do we claim 1 or 2 dependents?Answers: On your income tax forms, you will check self and spouse which will tender you 2 exemptions.
I assume you are asking about your W-4 at work. You don't claim exemptions or dependents in attendance, but withholding allowances. You can claim up to 3 withholding allowances safely and would give or take a few break even at filing time. If she go back to work, stick near no more than 1 each.
Exemptions and dependents are claimed on duty returns. You get one personal exemption for respectively of you if you file a mutual return. Assuming that you have no children you won't be claiming any dependents.
Is doing your taxes really just an exercise in creative tax law interpretation?
Answers: yeah seems like it doesn't it.. you have to play around with each step of the way to see what makes the bottom line in your favor..
this guy above me looks like a relative.. LOL but I'm tanned
Yes, that's why income tax and the IRS need to be abolished, and implement a flat tax or national sales tax.
Form 1098-T?
I am a college student living with parents.I am 24. I am still a dependent. I don't work.
My parents will wallet their taxes tommorrow.
I go to college A. But at equal time, I took a class at college B, which is 3 hours distance. The one class at college B was an independent study course where on earth I learn by myself and have 4 months to complete the course.
The tuition for the one course was $780. My home college, college A, handle my financial aid and paid something like $450 of it with my financial aid (Pell Grant). I salaried the remaining balance next to my own money that I had save up.
I got a 1098-T form closing week from college B. Box 2 "Amounts billed for qualified tuition and related expenses" is $780.
Questions:
1.) Should I give this form to my parents when they wallet their taxes? Is it even worth it?
2.) In box 1, do I write $450?
3.) Does the tax preparer stipulation the original form or copy?
Note: the 1098-T form have my social security and name/address.
Answers: you don't write anything
innovative pref.
if you are dep. of your parents, and you do not file your own tax, give it to your parents.
Yes present the form to your parents they claim you as as dependent therefore they can use that as a speculation after Feb 11th.
Money from grants does not count towards an lessons credit.
The tax preparer only needs the arts school name and the dollar amounts that be paid out of pocket or by loans.
Qualified expenses salaried by a dependent are considered paid by the party who is claiming the dependent. As long a box 2 shows the amount billed and the amount of the grant shows surrounded by box 8 your parents can claim the difference for one of the three educational credits.
