If I sell my house in 2008, do I need to pay taxes on the capital gain that exceeds the exclusion amount?

Answers: You are allowed to exclude from income up to $250K, if single, or $500K, if filing joint, assuming you owned and used the property as a principal residence at least 2 out of the last 5 years. Any gain above the exclusion amount will be treated as a capital gain. If you held the property more than 1 year, you are eligible for long-term capital gain treatment at the 0/15% tax rate.
In addition to the above answers, if you roll over the gains into purchasing another house, you may be able to delay the cap gains.

My boyfriend lived in my apartment from July07 until Nov07 when we moved to Columbus, very soon that we live in Columbus i settle up all of the living cost. Any info you could endow with me would be great?

Answers: Do you have a child? Did you salary more than half the cost of the upkeep of a home for that child? If not, you can't be the principal of a household.

You might possibly be able to write sour some of the moving expenses, depending on why you had to move for your living, but unless they add up to more than the standard presumption, you're probably better off simply filing the 1040A or 1040EZ and not bothering next to itemizing.

EDIT - Sorry, that was wrong. Moving expenses are separate from the other humane of deductions. You can claim them, if you're eligible to, even if you're not itemizing. Sorry for the mistake!
Moving expenses progress on the front of the 1040, so you can deduct them whether or not you itemize.

Not just are you not eligible for HOH based on your boyfriend, you can't even claim him as a dependent if he didn't work because he didn't live beside you all year.
