If I own a 1099 do I enjoy to swarm out a sched. C? I am NOT self employed?
First off, I hold been unwaged the whole export tax year. I did one project for a friend for which I was sent a 1099. I do not hold a business and can hardly name it a hobby at this point. When I file my 1040, can I a short time ago put the 1099 income under "other income" or do I hold to fill out a programme C even if it is not a business??Answers: If you have expenses against the income you can single claim them on a Sched C. If not you can put it on as other income subject to self employment tax. You must retribution SE on it if it is over $400, but if there are expenses you simply pay SE on the profit after expenses.
If you did work and did not enjoy an employer you were self employed. You did not enjoy an employer and you were employed what else would it be call?
You do not have to enjoy a business to be self employed but the IRS allows you to write off impossible to tell apart expenses as someone who has a business.
Will the elderly and disabled get tax rebate checks?
Answers: Not under the terms of the rebate plan passed by the House.
The Senate Tax Rebate bill would provide payments of $500 each to some 20 million low-income Americans living only on Social Security benefits and to about 250,000 veterans also dependent on government benefits.
Nothing has passed Congress yet, so everything is subject to change.
The way it stands now, you have to report earnings of at least $3,000/year of "earned income". Social Security and disability are not currently considered "earned" income.
So, unless the rules are changed, there would be many older citizens who would not be able to recieve the rebates.
No legislation has yet been enacted, so final detail are not available, per IRS website. The website also states that once more information is available it will be posted on the IRS website.
Caution: be aware that there are identity theft scams involving the proposed advance payment checks, known as rebates, the IRS know of at least one telephone scam making the rounds which uses the proposed rebates as bait.
My roomate told me that all americans will receive at least $600 more in their taxes this year is that true?
Answers: The Congress is currently considering a tax rebate plan.
Under the bill passed by the House, if you had earned income of at least $3000, you will get at least the minimum rebate of $300.
You would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $600 if you paid that much in Federal Income Tax. If you only paid $350 in taxes (less than the $600 rebate limit), you only get back $350.

It will be close to this... Individuals who pay income taxes would get up to $600, working couples $1,200 and those with children an additional $300 per child under the agreement. Workers who make at least $3,000 but don’t pay taxes would get $300 rebates.
The first rebate payments could begin going out in May, and most people could have them by July, though the IRS will already be overwhelmed processing 2007 tax returns.
The rebate is not taxable at the federal level, and it's unlikely the states would tax it, though that's not entirely clear at this point.
Only those who payed taxes, will receive a rebate, including the illegals whom filed tax returns.
Sad but true, every year, hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants use individual taxpayer identification numbers, known as ITINs, to file income tax returns with the IRS.
