Taxes/401K?

Early distribution of entire 401k balance contained by one payment for anyone unemployed. Not rcv unemployement... do not qualify for cost exemption per Turbo Tax

Federal taxes withheld -25% of taxable amount.
i.e. - $26,000 total- $6500 taxes paid.
Why do we still enjoy a 10% penalty when we folder our tax return?
And why do we not find anything back for "overpayment" of taxes on the reimburse out?

Answers: The numbers from your 1099R form that reported this distribution are added into your other income information. The 25% withheld is added to your withholding. You pay duty on your total income (including the distribution) and a 10% penality (on the distribution) is added to the tax due. Most expected the 25% withholding will not cover all of the rates and penality due on the distribution if you had other income.
nearby is no standard amount of tax - you hold to add the full amount of the distribution - formerly taxes withheld - to the rest of your income to see how much tax you owe, after add the 10% untimely withdrawal cost. After your exemptions and deductions, after you compare the tax due to the total amount withheld from your paychecks and the 401k distribution to see if you are still getting a compensation or if you owe additional taxes

Last Year's federal Refund is Taxable ?

Hi.
I got a clear in your mind amount as Federal Refund from last year's 2006 Tax Filing.
Will that amount be Taxed when I wallet the Returns this year ?
i.e, Does my Federal refund from previous year become a chunk of my income this year ?

P.S: This refund from closing year is not there anywhere surrounded by my Current W-2.

Thanks.

Answers: No you already were tax on all your income from 2006. What is disappeared over from withholding after paying your tax on your total income is your repayment.

So no it is not taxable as 2007 income.
No, your federal refund isn't taxable and you don't report it.
