Taxes Questions and Answers

Why am I getting gloomy numbers on my 1040?

I'm using turbotax and am confused! My husband earned $23, 930, partially of which was earn in the UK and the other contained by the US. He does not qualify for the earned income exclusion. I earn $31, 360 overseas in the UK and I do qualify for the earn income exclusion.yet when I put
my overseas income contained by, it produces negative numbers on our 1040 (which we are file jointly) It appears on line 21 as Form 2555 (minus) - $31 360 and after our income on line 22 appears as minus -$7,430.

Then turbotax say we are entitled to a full refund of the state and federal taxes my husband rewarded on the US imcome he earned.

Does anyone know why this is stirring?

Answers: So you didn't like my closer answer?

You must report the worldwide income on line 7. Using your numbers, vein 7 should be 55290. LIne 21 is -31,360, line 22 is $23,930.

23,930-10700-6800=$6430. AT 15%, you owe roughly $965. (Due to excluded income, you are in the 15% toll bracket.)

If your husband paid income taxes, use form 1116 to draw from a foreign tax credit on some or adjectives of the taxes he paid.
It sounds similar to you put in the exclusion for your income, but didn't enter it surrounded by as income in the first place. You own to do both - enter it, then stern it out.

My company be bought out and i have to roll my 401k to an ira.i'm doing my taxes and i've get a %6 cost?

i'm doing taxes online and it says you can solely put $4000 in ira and i own excess and i'm gonna be penalized %6 every year the excess amount is surrounded by there.but i would enjoy been tax if i took the money out. to avoid penalties it say take the excess out later they tax the heck out of it back please!

Answers: The limit doesn't apply to rollovers. It sounds resembling you entered it as a unusual contribution - you need to show it as a rollover.
Whoa! The max annual amount you can PUT IN to an IRA is $ 4000.00
But you are ROLLING OVER, The $ 4000 bound not apply.see line 16a

Tax return press...?

I have two children near two different fathers. Im pretty sure they both already file and claimed their kid. I didnt want them to do this and i havent filed but. If i file and i claim them will they be audited? (my children reside below my address. i have physical custody but we share the children.) both children spend 50% of time near their fathers, my son is beside his dad half the week every week, and my daughter is at her father every other week for a full seven days.
what should i do?

Answers: If you have collective custody of both children w/ both fathers, and it sounds approaching you do. The questions switch on w/:

1. Are the fathers paying child support? If they are, consequently they are entitled to claim their children as dependants. Or, at least write sour their support payments. Although laws ebb and flow from state to state re: state taxes. The IRS sees things a short time differently.

2. Were you legally married to the father? And are there common custody agreements w/ the court?

3. Are you and one of the fathers of a mind to file your return in somebody`s company...as a common-law married couple? If so, you'll be getting the tax nouns check that Bush has proposed (and have passed) If not willing to folder jointly, or even separately as a couple...later only one of the three of you is going to get hold of the tax nouns check w/ your refund, if you hold one coming.

4. If the above, #3, seems complicated...you call for to understand the implication of joint custody. because, if the father are required to pay support, and they do, next they have a right to claim their kids as dependants freshly as much as you do.

To answer about the possible auditing: It's unlikely that they or you will be. I don't know what your income, or theirs for that event is, but unless one of the three of you is blatantly defrauding the IRS, you don't hold much to worry around.

I read just the other daylight that audits are way down w/ lower income family, something like 1/10th of a percent of the population. Which is approaching 35,000 people out of 3.5 million here surrounded by the states.

The joint custody arrangement(s) is by far the most far-reaching matter to concern yourself w/ As "Head of Household", which you are, you should be entitled to the child charge credits along w/ the tax nouns incentive program.

Dang, that was a mouthful! My fingertips hurt! Hope adjectives goes in good health, sweetheart. Don't worry going on for it...and whatever you do, don't B.S. the IRS. They WILL hunt you down. Good luck.
It depends on who provided the majority of support for respectively child.

If everything is even, then the parent next to the highest familiar gross income gets to claim the child.

If you suggest they've already claimed the children and you feel resembling it's your right to claim them, you can file a broadsheet return claiming both children and then sort it out when the IRS brings it up.
hmmmm i be gonna tell you what my dad told me to report you but i think cam did a better brief lol.and he's right too
