Taxes Questions and Answers

I am no longer living in Canada. Can I withdraw the contributions paid into CPP?

Answers: tampabay: I believe the question was whether the contributions paid while in Canada could be withdrawn, and the answer is no.

Your comment on whether a pension could be payable is valid. As you say, though, it greatly depends on how long the person was in Canada and how many years of CPP contributions, to determine if and how much of a pension will be payable after age 60.
You need more information to be able to respond correctly. How long did you live/work in Canada? Where do you live now? How long have you been left?

I just came back from a seminar that talks all about this and collecting both cpp, oas and ss in the US.

In most cases it seems, you are able to collect cpp/oas living outside canada, but it depends on how long you worked in canada and when.

I am a dual citizen (US and Canada), now in Florida. Here is what the official Canadian website had to say and a link to their website:

Did you know?
If you paid into the Canada Pension Plan, you can get a retirement pension as early as the age of 60, no matter where you live.

Federal Tax give somebody the third degree!!?

I changed my name beside social security but my w2's still say-so my maidan name. How should I wallet?

Answers: Your tax return should be file with your legitimate name at the time of file your return.

As far as what happens after you profile:

This could go any of two different ways. If you are going to a professional preparer, make sure you consent to him/her know when you changed your name on the social payment records. Also agree to them know what your name be before you changed it. IF the return is rejected because a mismatch of autograph for your social security number, they will simply hold to change their journal and resubmit it.

And for your information, the first four letters of the second name are adjectives they check. for instance, if you were a Williams, and changed to a Williamson, afterwards it would not show up at all as anyone wrong.

Hope this helps.
Put your current signature on your return. The W-2 with a different identify won't be a problem.
