Withheld wages?
Due to my wages dept getting my pay wrong 2 years ago I owe later lb100. They have made no attempt to steal it back from me over this time. I thought they would agree an amount respectively week but seems they forgot. So I kept whispered. Now we all are due hindmost pay for a totally different point and this week my collegues all get their money with a money slip. I didn't get mine so I can lone assume they are keeping it. My question is shouldn't I bring taxed on the money so receive a pay slip? shouldn't they make a contribution me the money then ask for it hindmost? and also if they are keeping it shouldn't they write to tell me this? They are the Local Council here within UK not just a small company. Please if you could enlighten me what my rights are before I contact themAnswers: BY LAW THE COMPANY CAN ONLY TAKE MONEY OFF YOU AS IN AN OVERPAYMENT(IF PAID INTO YOUR BANK)WITHIN 24 HOURS..THEY CANNOT WITH-HOLD MONEY FROM YOU WITHOUT YOUR PREVIOUS CONSENT...AS YOU OWE THEM MONEY THEY CAN NOT JUST DEDUCT IT THEY HAVE TO ASK YOU AND COME TO AN ARRANGEMENT ON AMOUNT YOU ARE BOTH HAPPY TO HAVE DEDUCTED EACH WEEK/MONTH...AND YES ALL MONEY SHOULD BE ON PAY SLIP AND IS LIABLE TO TAX,N.I.
If they didn`t appropriate the money back at an closer date then i wouldn`t give attention to they would do it now. They usually would do it contained by the same toll year (April-March).
It could be totally unrelated, you are right to assume you should get it adjectives detailed on a pay slip anyway.
I devise there is another hiccup, simply contact them and ask them about your backpay.
Just play dumb and ask why you didnt return with any money they may have purely forgot you!
if money you owe them is then mentioned after you forgot all just about it and can sort out the right way to concordat with it!
it is against the canon to make deduction from wages without recieving say-so from you in the first place apart from charge and NI deductions unsurprisingly. you are required also by law to recieve a payslip even if you enjoy zero wages to come.
and yes you are correct if you hold been overpaid they cannot in recent times take the overpayment rear because you have remunerated tax on the overpayment so consequently you are entitled to a refund of export tax on the overpayment.
ie if they have remunerated you lb100 over and you pay levy at a 40% rate then they can simply deduct lb60 from your wages to rate the overpayment back
No employer, local authority or other, are officially allowed to deduct money from you beside out your prior consent. Even if it is money previously overpaid. They must have your written authority and it is up to you how the money is remunerated back eg instalments deduct from wage at a rate chosen by you
In law it is prearranged as an unlawful deduction from wages and is remedied through the tribunal or county court if it is not resolved next to the employer
My wife did not work; we filed jointly, do we still get the full 1200 dollars for filing jointly.?
Answers: That will depend upon the tax liability and possibly the income on your 2007 tax return.
If your tax liability is between $600 and $1,200 you'll get an amount equal to your tax liability, plus $300 for each dependent child under age 17.
If your tax liability is $1,200 or more, you'll get $1,200 plus $300 for each dependent child under age 17.
If your tax liability is under $600 and your income is $3,000 or more you'll get $600 plus $300 for each dependent child under age 17.
r u talking about the economic stimulus relief rebate/refund? If so, you should still get the full 1200.
Its 600/single status that filed a tax return this year -OR- 1200/married status that filed a return this year. (Under 75000 annual inc for married) So it doesn't really matter if she worked or not...as along as you've filed taxes this year for '07 and your income was under 75000, you should get the full 1200..if you have any children, you should also get 300/child.
It depends upon how much is your federal tax on your return. If it is $1200 or more, you will get full $1,200.
If your federal tax is $600 or less, you will get $600.

Should I dally to do my 2007 taxes until I finish file my previous years?
I havent filed my taxes the previous 3 years, I'm contained by the process of doing those. Should I hold off on doing my 2007 taxes untilI finish the unfiled years?
Answers: Yes, but catch them all done previously the 2007 tax time is due. The use is you need values from the previous year forms to do the subsequent year form. Or else you will need to report an amended form and resend in the correction.
Just receive them done.
If you file 2007 and enjoy a refund, the repayment will be held if mathematically you could have owed on the missing years. The return will be released when those returns are filed.
if you owe for 2007 and can't repay, you won't be able to set up any sort of expenditure plan until the missing returns are filed.
