Tax sound out?
What happens if I don't report self-employment income? How is the governing body going to know that I mowed someone's lawn and get paid for it? It seem ridiculous, I did plenty of odd job and never knew I have to report it under taxes. I read it here http://www.irs.gov/individuals/students/...Answers: They could corner things like this surrounded by a few ways:
1. The people you worked for try to write rotten the expenses and claim you as a household employee. (not promising to happen)
2. You have the meadow mowing business to end adjectives lawn mowing businesses and start making big enough deposits to soar on to the government radar. (It'd be a freaking miracle of this one happen as a result of mowing lawns)
3. Someone reports you. (unlikely)
4. Your unlucky number comes up and it's your turn for an audit. The tax man tend to pick up on deposits being greater than income, and/or spending exceeding income minus explanation. (also unlikely)
Let's just enunciate that you remained under the IRS radar for a lifetime. When you applied for Social Security you'd return with nothing as you have no reported income.
For all you know, one of the neighbors whose prairie you mow is an IRS agent. They're not permitted to reveal their status outside of their official dimensions. Once it became endorsed, it would be too late.
But you get good information from the source. Nuff said!
Has a new tax law passed awarding all taxpayers a $600 refund?
Answers: Congress passed it; the president is expected to sign it.
Under the compromise bill passed by the Congress, you would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $600 if you paid that much in Federal Income Tax. If you only paid $350 in taxes (less than the $600 rebate limit), you only get back $350. If you had earned income of at least $3000, you would get at least the minimum rebate of $300.
While the rebate depends on your 2007 income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, in 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.
It's like a one time tax cut for 2008, but you get the rebate now instead of waiting to file your 2008 taxes. Because this is an advance payment on your 2008 taxes, your refund next year could be more (or less!) depending on your 2008 income.
Use the calculator below to compute your rebate.
its been passed but dont count on it being free money,it will probably be taken out of your refund next year if the economy gets better.
