Taxes Questions and Answers

How much federal export tax withhold for Miami Florida?

I have a employment proposal in Miami FL for 65k a year, I'm married but my wife won’t work. No kids so far.
Lets read aloud I get money twice a month.
How much should I expect on every pay check? And at the extremity will I have to foot extra to the IRS?
Thank you.

Answers: Your location does not affect your Federal tax liability.
Your withholding does not affect you're levy liability, only WHEN you wages the tax.
You choose how much withholding is taken from your paycheck. The IRS recommend for someone in your situation that you withhold as MARRIED 2 exemptions or $280 respectively paycheck for an annual salary of $65,000 compensated twice a month at $2708 each paycheck.
But you can direct your employer to withhold any amount you want. The more you withhold the smaller your discount in April (or the more you must pay). The smaller quantity you withhold the larger your refund within April (or the less you must pay).
In any case, you are liable for alike amount of tax.
The more big question is estimating your taxes for 2008, usually by looking at the levy liability you have have in previous years at comparable stipend. Then match the withholding to the export tax liability.
In addition nearby is Social Security and Medicare tax. the combined social wellbeing tax rate and Medicare excise rate is 7.65% for another $207 deducted from your paycheck.
SO - if you run with MARRIED 2 Federal withholding, the total deduction for your taxes are:
$280 + $207 = $487 per paycheck if you get rewarded twice a month.
Net paycheck $2708 - 487 = $2221 twice a month
For federal purposes, you would be in the 15% excise bracket. FL has no state income due, and your Fica taxes would be another 7.65%.

If you withhold at 15%, you should get a small settlement at tax time. That is because a small portion of your income would be taxed at just 10%.
Just fill out your w4 for the correct amount of exemptions and you'll be ok.

Tax exemptions for self-employed: Education?

I am a Pilates instructor and work with two groups of relations primarily: dancers and musicians.

Can I deduct caper classes and piano lessons (fully or partially) if I can bequeath proof that the experience I gain from them is necessary to my work

(I.e. provide a client account showing that a certain percentage of them are dancers and pianists any working professionally or in a professional training program)?

Answers: Education To Maintain or Improve Skills
If your nurture is not required by your employer or the law, it can be qualify work-related education with the sole purpose if it maintains or improve skills needed in your present work. This could include refresher courses, courses on current developments, and intellectual or vocational courses.

If you think the IRS will believe taking hop and piano lessons imporve your skills as a Pilates instructor you can discount them. I don't see how taking dance and piano help you improve on principle Pilates but you have to use your own acumen

If you are self employed you deduct it as a miscellanous expense on Schedule C
you can reduce by any education experience DIRECTLY related to running your business. Generally, this provision is to allow you to invest within yourself for the purpose of materially changing your business. It is not a process for you to "bond" with your customers.

I approaching to golf, but I can only reduce by my country club membership as a business expense if a) it is a company strong views and b) substantial business is conducted there. I cannot discount it if I expect that, because my clients golf, I will have more to natter to them about.

The 2008 due rebate; doesn't net sense to me. You get hold of money in a minute, but you enjoy to earnings it vertebrae contained by 2009?

I understand that the command want us to spend, spend spend right now, but I'll be hurting when I own to pay $1500 extra when I folder for 2008 right?
If that is true I feel a lot of relations will be hurting this time next year. I feel "rebate" is a misleading word to call this. Am I missing something?

Answers: While the rebate depends on your 2007 income, it is certainly a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, in 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to nought percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

It's like a one time export tax cut for 2008, but you get the rebate very soon instead of waiting to file your 2008 taxes. Because this is an mortgage payment on your 2008 taxes, your settlement next year could be more (or smaller amount!) depending on your 2008 income.
no, no, no

you get money immediately but don't have to settle it back ever.

it is a one time export tax reduction for the excise payers and a one time extra payment for the Social Security retirees.
bingo..i have to pay import tax on the last rebate this silly system gave us two or three years ago. I get $500 and had to report it on the following years taxes.

it is a stupid move. best bet is to put it contained by your savings details and try to at least produce some interest on it.
I have not read what the Senate of late passed but this is what they were discussion about doing.

The current charge law states we reward 10% on the first 6,000 of income we earn. They want to change the directive for the year 2008 to be that we pay 0% on the first 6,000 of income we earn. Because they are shifting the tax decree for the year 2008 and our withholdings are already taking out 10% of the first 6,000 the government is going to bestow us back that money in a minute instead of making us wait until we wallet out tax return for 2008. That is why it is 600 (10% of 6,000).

When you database your tax for 2008 they your return will be figure using 0% on the first 6,000. Your withholdings would have be figured on 10% of the first 6,000. However, because you received the rebate check of 600 you will not achieve that credit again. If you add the 600 final into your income and they give you the credit of 0% on your first 6,000 you break even. They are giving you a 600 credit and you are claiming the 600 they already give you. Either way you are 600 richer

They could basically wait and tolerate everyone get the reimbursement when the 2008 taxes are filed but the plan is to grant it to everyone now rash so they can spend it and help the cutback.
The explanation above is what I've been hunting for. Very concise.
Thank You
I am pissed bad about this. Why is the senate misleading us into believing that this is a tax rebate, it is a TAX ADVANCE! If you receive $1500 within this "rebate", your 2008 returns will have $1500 deduct. I think that our discount is about to bottom out and this is a move of desperation.
