Economic Stimulus Plan?

My husband is the sole provider of our family. Since we are married file jointly, do we receive the full $1,200 plus $300 per child? Or will basically my husband qualify to receive the $600 bc he is the only taxpayer contained by the family? I am a stay-at-home mom.

Answers: It doesn't concern who has the income.

Under the compromise bill passed by the Congress, if you folder jointly, you would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $1200 if you salaried that much in Federal Income Tax. If you lone paid $750 contained by taxes (less than the $1200 rebate limit), you only obtain back $750. If you have earned income of at smallest $3000, you would get at lowest possible the minimum rebate of $300. If you qualify for a rebate, you would receive $300 extra for each dependent child.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 income, it is truly a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, in 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to nil percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

It's like a one time toll cut for 2008, but you get the rebate immediately instead of waiting to file your 2008 taxes. Because this is an finance payment on your 2008 taxes, your repayment next year could be more (or smaller number!) depending on your 2008 income.

Use the calculator below to compute your rebate.
As a couple filing a reciprocal return, if your joint income qualify for the full $1200, you'd get it everything of you made the income.

Am retired and only get social security check , is there a-way I can get that tax return?

Answers: The IRS created a special version of the Form 1040A for particular groups of taxpayers -- this includes low-income workers or those who receive Social Security benefits or veterans’ disability compensation, pension or survivors’ benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2007.

This special 1040A shows taxpayers in these groups the specific sections of the form they need to fill out to qualify for the stimulus payment. The mock-up is designed to be used as a guide for filling out an actual Form 1040A.

The special Form 1040A illustration on IRS.gov shows the limited number of lines that will need to be filled out. A key line is reporting their 2007 benefits on Line 14a of Form 1040A. The IRS reminds taxpayers they can also use Line 20a on Form 1040 to report these same benefits.

In addition, taxpayers in these groups should write the words “Stimulus Payment” at the top of the 1040A or 1040.

Here's a link to a sample of that special form: http://www.irs.gov/pub/newsroom/1040a.pd...
Yes, but you need to file a tax return for 2007 to be eligible, even though you don't normally file. You'll use a 1040A - you can download a copy at irs.gov or pick on up at your local post office or public library. Fill in the top portion (label area and filing status), put your total social security benefits for the year from your SSA-1099 on line 14A, then put a zero on line 14B, 15,21, 22, 27 and 28. Sign and date on the back page in the "sign here" area. Mail it to the address for your state that's listed in the 1040A instruction booklet.

The IRS suggests that you write the words "Stimulus Payment" across the top of page 1 of the form. If you don't, it will still be OK.

You'll be eligible for $300.

Answers: Since you asked the question it is probably safer to own another do your taxes. More mistakes are made by an
individual than a business that does taxes. The mistakes are
mainly within adding and substraction. I would pay cheque the money
and make sure that their mistakes are intensely few. Computers do the math but the person have to put the right deductions down contained by the right place. Your reasoning might be flawless but
if new due information is generated, travel to a tax rep
