Taxes Questions and Answers

Does the Federal Government collect state taxes?

I was basically told that the Federal Government collets State taxes and then redistribute them. I had never hear it before, and it make no since. Please no Anti Government Rants. Also please provide proof if they do.

Answers: Absolutely NOT. Again people do NOT recognize and don't research, but just rear to conclusions. What I bet they're thinking of is that the citizens in the states income money and they don't get THAT proportionate return contained by things that feds fund--like Medicaid.

Medicaid is a joint federal and state program beside funding from BOTH sources. There are mandatory guidelines, BUT the states can alter a wide choice of factors. The "wealthiest" states merely get 50 cents on the dollar matched by the feds while "poorer" states receive MORE. This would be an excellent example of where on earth people yelp that the state doesn't get put money on "all of it's money but single x cents on the dollar." What this proves again is that you CAN NOT get CORRECT information from the AVERAGE citizen of ANY country (the rest of the world doesn't know any more than Americans do) going on for how their systems work. (Good Lord, we can't get 100% of the race to even know who the president is after 8 YEARS in organization.)

This kind of jargon comes from POLITICIANS spouting this BS knowing full well that the average citizen is not individual clueless but COMPLETELY misinformed about how political affairs in certainty operates. Therefore they manufacture all sorts of statements that are MEANT to be taken exactly as the citizens DO lug them. With a completely INCOMPETENT media who don't know squat almost what they dutifully PARROT (you can't even call it reporting) this codswallop gets passed on as though it be the truth when it's a mere 180 degrees rotten the mark.

I've repeatedly see governors whine about how "our state doesn't capture our money back from the feds." Demagogues.
As a previous creature wrote
Federal taxes go to the Feds. (IRS)
State taxes jump to the State Treasurers.

You may have misunderstand what someone told you. There is Federal due money that is distributed to the States. Very complicated, couldn't speak about you how they determine that distribution.

Can I claim 2 over 21yr olds as dependents on 2007 return?

my 25 yr old is fulltime student but no income,my 26 yr prehistoric is being treated for mental condition and did not work within 2007-probably won't for a few months. I'm a single parent, both live with me and I provide 100% support.

Answers: The 25 yr ripened can be claimed as a Qualifying Relative if he lived in your home ALL year and have less than $3,400 within gross income AND received more than half of his support from you.

The 26 yr mature can be claimed as a Qualifying Child if he's totally and permanently disabled if he lived surrounded by your home for 6 months or more and provided less than partly of his OWN support. He's considered totally disabled if he is unable to support himself. It's considered durable if it is projected to last for a year or more. If he's not considered totally and permantly disabled later he can still qualify as a Qualifying Relative under alike criteria as the 25 yr old.
I'm not sure in the region of that.

You might because they live with you and you provided adjectives the support.

Check the irs.gov website. They have a Q&A article that might have an answer for you.
Yes you can - as long as you supported them ---EVEN if they didn't live beside you. You can claim ANYONE you supported even NON relatives.

I wish population who didn't really know the answer would stop answering.
Yes, if their gross income was smaller quantity than 3,400 and you provided over half of their total support. They would both be your qualify relative. If your child with the mental condtion received disabililty it is not counted as gross income.

There is NO age impede for qualifying relatives and your children DO NOT own to live with you to qualify.
They are too matured to claim them as qualifying children. But there's another type of dependent, qualify relative. If they had no income and you provided over partly of their support, you can claim them that way as dependents. so it sounds from your give somebody the third degree like the answer is yes.

Taxes Person?

How much is too much for paying your tax preparer? I've be going to the same guy for 6yrs presently. He used to charge me what I thought was ok. He be doing it for 150 the first year, then every year since it have gone up. I was fine at first next to the little hike until closing year I end up paying him 800 hundred. Now this year he wishes 972. I am a full time student, single mom of 3. I just think its too much. Is it too much or not enough?

Answers: That's outrageously glorious. He's ripping you off. It seem like he ought to be reported to someone somewhere.

You can do your taxes yourself for free. If you really don't trust yourself to read directions and pack in numbers, next go to one of the online sites approaching Turbotax or www.irs.gov and do them there. If your income is low plenty, it will be free to file your federal return near. Turbotax might charge a small fee for file your state return (if you need to report one) but nowhere near NINE HUNDRED SEVENTY TWO dollars.

Another concept, if you're a full time student, check out the bulletin boards near the math or business section of the school. There's usually student volunteers who will waddle you through all the export tax forms.
Unless you are running your own business and it's fairly complex, that's WAY out of procession.

If your income is around $40,000 or less and you don't own a business, look for a VITA site - certified volunteers will do your due for free. See http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0...
