Taxes Questions and Answers

Are levy rebate checks lately an mortgage for 2008 taxes?

are these checks literally a "hand out" from the governing body or is this just simply an advance on the rebate you would achieve from filing 2008 taxes?

Answers: It's an finance on a 2008 credit. Basically the government is adjectives your taxes in 2008, but giving you that cut presently.

So they are, in essence, giving us a "handout".
I read that the guide of the IRS said today that they are taxable in 2008. He did not brand clear how.

My friend who is an accountant said that she was sent something more or less this that said that $300 is "refundable" for those that are eligible for that amount but the $600 or more rebates for relations earning $6000 to $75000 are "non-refundable". I still don't pretty understand simply what the implication on my 2008 taxes will be.

I am thinking that at most minuscule part of it will entail to be added in to your "income" on your 2008 return and thus some rates liability will exist.
No, they are not an advance surrounded by the sense that you will have to salary it back contained by 2008.

Like most all income you recieve, it will be tax along with your other income for 2008. For example, if you recieve a $600 rebate and you're contained by the 15% tax bracket, you will enjoy to pay an extra $90 contained by taxes next year.

If the policy wants to "sell" me $600. for one and only $90, I'll take that traffic all year long!

How does charge liability affect the rebate?

I thought I had read previously that if a couple had $0 tariff liability then they would receive a poorer amount of rebate?

In our situation - we made about $40k ultimate year but with 4 children we completed up with $0 import tax liability. (My husband is active duty Army and I am a full-time student). We didn't qualify for EIC this year, but we did shutting up getting ALL of the taxes back that have been taken out of his checks and after some because of the dependents.

So, will we still get the tariff rebate or will we not qualify because we had $0 levy liability?

Answers: My first thought was that you would win the full rebate for yourselves and your children. Then I remembered seeing that although this is a 2008 tax rebate, it IS base on taxes paid within 2007.

I think you will stumble back into the lowest class of "minimum rebates". Those earn $3,000 or more, even if they paid no taxes, still will obtain a rebate of $300. They also qualify for the $300 per child. As a result, I believe you will get $300 respectively for you and your spouse and $300 for each child for a total of $1,800.
It is not base on your tax liabilty.

It is base on your AGI...

No sweat, you qualify... $600 for you, $600 for your spouse, and $300 per kid.

Enjoy :)
My guess is that you will get the full $1200 + the child credit - since you more than plausible had more than 3000 adjust gross income but the child credits compensated more than the tax you owed.

Ive get a sound out roughly export tax returns?

This year I worked at 3 places. As I added my W2s my tax return get lower and lower...Im sure the program Im using is right but I was wondering if anyone have the answer as to why that is? I expected it to step up since the govt was taking more money out.

Answers: As your income go up, so does the percentage of taxes that you have to remuneration. It sounds like the more wages from your W-2s are putting you into a higher charge bracket.
The government may be taking more out, but you are also putting contained by more income.

There are many variables... As you are inputting more W-2's, it could be putting you into the subsequent tax bracket... Or the w-2's you are putting contained by later could own fewer taxes taken out as a percentage of your income.
