and any honest lottery will always be happy to pay by check instead of bank transfer ... it gives them a few days extra interest on the funds.
You bet. Don't believe any email you get that says you won a lottery, especially one you did not enter. Besides, if you really did win a lottery the taxes would be deducted from the gross amount of the winnings, you would not send in money first to claim your imaginary "winnings".

It is not a scam! Of course you won the African lottery! Never you mind that you probably entered in it in the first place! And disregard the fact that they want you to pay money to receive your so called "money". I bet that all legit lotteries require your credit card number!
