What is the hope credit?

Given that I'm eligible to claim a hope credit for my dependent student for $1,650, does that mean I will receive an extra $1,650 on my return check? Thanks!

Answers: No, it take $1650 away from your tax liability (the taxes you would owe on your income). It is a credit.

Are we going to have to pay back this tax rebate when we do our taxes next year?

Answers: While the rebate depends on your 2007 income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, in 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

It's like a one time tax cut for 2008, but you get the rebate now instead of waiting to file your 2008 taxes. Because this is an advance payment on your 2008 taxes, your refund next year could be more (or less!) depending on your 2008 income.

Can I reduce by the lawful fees I've remunerated associated beside the mart of my share within an LLC?

The only asset surrounded by the LLC is a vacation home owned by ourseleves and our In-laws. There is a pay-off to us for our share of the appreciation of the home, however, while the clearance will occur within 2008 the legal fees associated near the sales of shares be in the 2007 excise year.

Answers: The legal fees associated beside the sale of the property should be capitalized to increase your idea in the property.

Higher spring = less taxable gain for you.

You would report adjectives of this in the year of the mart.
You can claim the legal expenses on your rota A, as a 2% expenses, but part of the permissible expenses aren't yours (the share that was the inlaws), so you can't take off them on your taxes. If you paid the entire bill, your in-laws can't reduce by anything because they didn't pay it.
