Dont think so, dont assume it is that big a deal!

< yes

income tax is individual charged on funds when there is a constant source of credit funds to a precise party any personal or business.

the cash won within lottery or given by others have already be charged either a property gains charge, income tax or other lots form of taxes and you can claim those tax posterior for imputation credits in the crust of share dividends.

for a simpler explanation, if you mom gives you $200 a week as allowance, do you pay packet tax on that? no, because her network income is already tax deduct or has accrue tax withheld.

No. You are allowed to give a soul a gift as roomy as $11,000 in 2005 and as hulking as $12,000 in 2006 once a year until that time you have to wallet a gift duty return (Form 709, I believe). If total gifts to one individual exceed the $11,000 exclusion in 2005 or $12,000 exclusion, after you will file that payment tax return and any elect to pay the grant tax very soon or elect to apply the gift(s) to your unified credit and drain your unified credit for estate import tax purposes.

Your unified credit is the threshhold you own before your estate when you die become taxable and has to report a Form 706. Right now for 2006, your interconnected credit would start at $2,000,000, but is always subject to vary, with agree of either significantly increasing the consistent credit or eliminating the loss tax altogether. In 2005, you interrelated credit would start at $1,500,000. Based on the current law, nearby is an increase in everyone's organized credit of $500,000.

The person acceptance the gift neither reports it nor pays income import tax on it. The person giving the payment is the only one that will hold to file a return and recompense tax.

Hope this help, and Good Luck. Nobody has to compensate on the 10,000 that you gave your friend. But if you present her more than 11,000 then you own to pay a grant tax. But you would own to pay taxes on the lottery winnings.

if you get a well brought-up answer, I'd like to know. I'm five years subsidise right now. I tried H&R Block within 2003, (for my '99 taxes) and they changed addresses, but moved out my taxes in the building they used to hold. The tax agency that took over the property blew me rotten, and H&R refused to stir back and fix it, so I'm still waiting.

< Go to the IRS website, see source, it have a list of programs you can use to profile your federal taxes (you have to take home under 50 distinguished per year) for free. H&R block will also file your state taxes for free if you own them put your return on their little pre-paid credit card thing (otherwise it's basically $20).

How to report excise on the income from freelance work if I don't receive a 1099-MISC?

My wife wrote an article that appeared on a newspaper and get some contribution fee. She didn't receive a 1099-MISC, but the broadsheet did get her Social Security Number. Thanks for any comments!

Answers:
While it is true that this income would entail to be reported on a Schedule C, I think it would probably be strictly easy to wipe out the income with expenses related to her work on this article (paper, research, software, etc.) so that you wouldn't hold to pay any self-employment excise on this income.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Here's a cooperation that says the IRS requests all hobby income reported as "other income" on Form 1040, dash 21. http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=140252,00.html

Also, hobby expenses are deductible to the extent of hobby income (hobby's can have web income, but not net losses). http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq-kw125.html (question 12.7)

Generally, a hobby is something which you don't do on a regular font and an activity for which you don't expect to create a profit doing.

Other Answers:
I'm assuming your wife was working as an independent contractor and not as an hand. If this is the case, consequently your wife would have to report her income from this on a diary C/EZ and may have to pay envelope self-employment tax if she made a correct amount that escapes me at the moment.
But, all gross proceeds from independent contractor work be in motion on a Schedule C.

Does calculation parent as dependent effect their eligibility for medicaid?

My mother in canon lives with us, have no income. If we add her as a dependent do we effect her eligibility for medicaid?, will we become responsible within any way for her bills? Thank you
Dave

Answers:
Whisper is simply WRONG! Medicaid eligibility is base on INCOME and ASSETS, not dependency status. If you contribute more that 50% of your MIL's support, you may claim her as a dependent and it has no impact whatsoever on her medicare/Medicaid status. You cannot be liable for her debts unless you co-sign a debt agreement beside her or guarantee payments yourself.

But why believe what you read online?? Call your Medicaid office and ASK! They will recount you.You will not have to identify yourself. The phone number is below Government Agencies. If you are worried about the debt issue, phone up a local attorney through a referral service and get a onetime consultation. Ask what the duty would be upfront, before you formulate the appointment. If it costs you more than $50-$100, say no appreciation and call somebody else....

Good Luck!

What is the wealth gain charge if I supply my second home ?

Answers:
how do you figure that the charge rate would be close to 30%? I would think that the second home qualify as a capital gain property, so it would be subject to 5%/15% federal taxes on any gain (assuming you held it for at least possible a year). However, if you rented it out while you weren't using it, there might be some complications to the weighing up, you must add any depreciation you took rear in, among other issues.

However, the simple answer is 15% of sale price-purchase price.

Other Answers:
It's something like 30%. It's a contract killer. However, if you rent it out - you can deduct lots of the costs associated with it ( a shameless plug, I know). If you vend it - make sure you detail all improvements you made to increase the effectiveness. You may be able to subtract some of these and thereby reducing the capital gain.
Or you can look up a 1031 exchange. This allows you to defer capital gain on the sale of property by exchanging next to another. There are groups / websites dedicated to this. Good luck!
