Does my friend own to claim his soon to be ex-wife on his tariff return?

They are not legally separated or divorced even so but working on it.She has not lived near him in over 1 1/2 years.

The IRS say you are either married or you're not. So for their purposes your friend be married at the end of charge year 2005. However that doesn't mean that he MUST claim his wife, singular that the option is available. The can respectively file as "Married file Separately" and each can claim themselves. It might be better for them to agree to wallet jointly since they would probably remuneration less toll that way. If they aren't on speaking lingo this option is most probable out.

Other Answers:
It more than likely will depend on how various months they resided together for the tax year that they are file.
If they where not living together at the downfall of the year, then no, he does not own to claim her.
No he doesn't have to claim her if they own lived apart for over a year. But he will have to folder SEPARATE. The IRS doesn't favor that filling status. You receive more credits by filling a JOINT RETURN!!

I m looking to do my taxes soon........ I am on 10-99, so what can i mark bad on my taxes ? for example gas, what else?
i will give u 10 points for helping me

Answers:
When you usually receive a 1099 misc, it is usually due to your self employed.
If your self employed you can pinch anything that associates with the business. Material, supplies, rental, bank, cellphone, work phone, postage, etc. When it comes to your vehicle, you can either steal mileage or expense, but once you choose one, you have to stay beside it as long as you have that vehicle. Mileage is usually the process to go if you do alot of traveling. If you don't after expenses are the way to run. That includes, oil change, gas, repairs, washes, etc. If you do not know adjectives your deductions, it might be better to be in motion to someone who does. I do not recommend H&R block.

How do you recommend for me, as a student, to do my taxes as a first time filier?

I spent the summer last year doing an internship and earn a bit of money, so I'd like to know how I can wallet my taxes.

Answers:
If you are a student or single you can get a 1040 EZ form. Most Libraries own these forms and a booklet to help you crowd out the form correctly.

Other Answers:
I was within the same situation concluding summer. If you just hold income from that internship, and you don't have any other seriously complicated deduction, dependants, etc., there are several online levy filing programs. I used TurboTax's program, and it be REALLY easy. Last year, they consent to me do it for free, but I just checked and this year it costs $10. I did both my federal and state toll returns as a first time filer in something like an hour (if that). They just deposited my return into my bank rationalization within a week or so. You may still know how to find a free online program, just pay attention you don't fall for a scam.

TurboTax or 1040EZ form if no one itemizes deduction.

The fastest route is to use TurboTax-- it looks for deductions for you! turbo toll is expensive but i don't think it costs $80. i suppose you can find taxact online or download for about $20, and you can do a few returns. it is real natural and it also looks for deductions for you. you hold the same type of interview process as near turbo tax, and they directory alerts at the end to show you where on earth you might find more deductions. you may still call for some assistance, but i have beyond question that you can do it.
hope this helps

I'm a contract worker and own not however received a 1099. Deadline be Jan 31. Can I wallet my return lacking it?

I believe this person get an extension last year and file in May or June. It's predictable to happen again this year. I don't want to keep on or hassle with that. How long am I obligated to linger before estimating my income? Is it OK to submit a 1040 lacking a 1099?

Answers:
You don't need the 1099 on the income you received. Just manufacture sure you report the income that you earn on a Sch C.
1099 is different than a W2, you don't need your employer ein# to folder.

Other Answers:
A 1099, is it for your interest earned or something else? Either approach you probably have history of how much it is. You don't need to convey the 1099 in when you profile like a W-2. You can do it lacking, then ammend your return if it's different. I'd christen to see why you haven't gotten one though.

If you hold all of the pertinent information, such as total income and the business' TIN (tax ID number), you might be able to electronically database a return without the physical 1099. If your 2005 income from this place be identical to 2004, you might hold most of that information on previous 1099s.

When I took my 1099s and my wife's W-2 to a local tax preparer, he just asked for a physical copy of the W-2 before he could e-file. He said he single needed proof that someone actually salaried federal taxes last year. The 1099s are more for the filer's benefit than the IRS. The info have to clash the information provided by the 'employer', but as you said he may not even file until after the April 15th deadline. You'll entail the numbers from an accountant, but not necessarily the physical 1099. NO
