At what percentage are funds from settlements tax?
Question:
Answer:
It depends on what the settlement is for, if its all for physical injury next none would be taxable, if a portion is for lost wages then the portion explicitly attributed to lost wages would be taxable. See publication 525 for more information
http://www.irs.gov/publications/p525/ar0...
http://www.irs.gov/publications/p525/ind...
If the settlement is for physical injury or illness, it's rates free. However if any part of it designated for lost wages, interest, or punitive damages, those portions are fully taxable as usual income.
If your settlement is for damages, such as to your home or car, the amount that make you whole again is tax-free as long as it's used for the intended repairs. Anything over and above making you complete again is fully taxable.
If it's a suit for libel or some similar tort, it's fully taxable.
W-4 Help!?
Question:
I'm 17 and I have to do my W-4 for Work...I live surrounded by CA...I get SSS From my dad cuz withdrawed precipitate at 62 So I make $688 month on that...
My dad claims me as depenant...I'm confused on how to spread it out and all...Is SSS consider my income even if my dad claims me?...
I obligation help near the Personal Allowances Worksheet A-H...I'm lost...
Answer:
Your question is somewhat confusing. Do you receive social security benefits directly? If the SSI check have his name on it afterwards they are his benefits and should not be calculated as your income regardless of how it benefits you either directly or indirectly. If you are delivery monthly benefits directly then yes, it will have need of to be claimed as income and you should use it on your W4 worksheet. Also, W4 withholdings can be changed any time by simply submitting a new one to your employer, so if after you submit your first one your export tax advisor tells you something different simply submit a new one to your employer - the one you submit in a minute will probably only affect one or two retribution periods.
The SS $s are considered income near special rules. If your dad is claiming you while you're getting this much income, that may be a problem for you. You and he need to discuss this so you can take to mean the right way to walk.

I own a small business surrounded by Tx. Do I charge export tax on shipping costs?
Question:
I have an internet business located within TX. I ship to customers in and outside of TX. Am I supposed to charge taxes on the shipping costs? And if so, do I charge it to customers outside of TX, or only just in-state customers?
Answer:
You should review the package you get from the state when you got your sale tax number. There's a FAQ booklet near it that should explain it all.
Every state is different. Some require you to collect sale tax on shipping charges. Others require you to collect sale tax on the covering charge but not the shipping charge as long as they're separately stated. And some don't tax any.
Generally you only collect sale tax for shipments destined to your own state. That would include the shipping charges if it's required to collect them.
We are surrounded by california and have a internet business as very well. We do not charge a shipping tax, it's included within your reg. tax that you charge. We freshly charge for UPS,FED-EX or Standard mail. IT may vary in TX> but here within Cali. we don't.
Taxes are applied to the purchase price of the product. I don't think you can toll shipping and handling, ethically. I also thought Texas didn't have a sale tax, but it's be a while since I have be there.
No, you are not supposed to charge tariff on shipping. Check the link below and read slice d. If you have any sale tax question in TX, you can phone one of the help lines (second link). The ethnic group in the Comptroller's bureau are usually really helpful.

"April 16th Storm"
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,i...
it's too overdue
It may be too late to database an extension. BUT last year I sent my excise return in belatedly and they only charged me a minimal deferred fee. It is usually base on a percentage of what you owe.
I also did not include the correct amount....totally by accident....and I didnt even know i have made a mistake until about 3 months then they sent me a letter wise saying i still owed. I got to payment in installments and they didnt charge me for that!! So....possibly that gives you a better concept.
With the IRS, as long as you pay them they cant do anything..and they are exceptionally easy to concord with unless you owe them an arm and a leg.
I am guessing this is a partnership or S corp. If it is for a C corp later you are a month to late. They be due March 15. Either way at least possible get some money sent to them and that will please them.
I enjoy total wealth gain distributions of 212.28 scheduled on my 1099- div form.?
Question:
also i have usual dividends of 16.32 and qualified dividends of 4.15. Do I need to database a schedule " D " form and where on earth do i annotate these amounts.
Answer:
Because these are under the precincts that require schedules B and D merely put them on form 1040 directly..
Ordinary dividends: Line 9a of 1040
Qualified dividends; Line 9b of 1040
Capital gains distributions: Line 13 of 1040 (check the box indicating diary D not required)
The $4.15 in qualified dividends and the $212.28 contained by capital gain distributions are taxed at a lower rate than your conventional tax rate. Use the Qualified Dividends & Capital Gain Tax Worksheet within the 1040 Instruction booklet to get possibly $25 savings contained by taxes.
just put the info on Schedule B,, inscribe it for not needing a Schedule D
IRS discern w/ repayment check said amount is WRONG, but amount be RIGHT! What??
Question:
The other week, I got a $452 discount check for my Federal Tax Return. With it was a printed card from the IRS call "Notice 54, rev. January 2000 -- About your Refund Check."
It said: "The amount of the enclosed reimbursement check is different from the amount shown on your return. You should be receiving a awareness in a few days that explains why the amount of the check is different and what spare information, if any, you may need to provide to the IRS."
There be more text, but the jist of it is above. The pretext I'm so confused is because when my accountant gave me tricky copies of my tax returns (after e-Filing them), the amount of my Federal reimbursement was shown to be $452. And that's the SAME amount that I received the other week on my repayment check. So why is the IRS telling me there's a discrepancy, when in attendance actually ISN'T??
On top of that, it's be about 2 weeks, and I never get the explanatory notice I supposedly would be getting "contained by a few days". WHAT is going on?
Answer:
I am in impossible to tell apart exact situation, Everything matches up that I can see. I own been waiting almost 3 weeks for that explanatory consideration that will probably never come.
They could have made a key error that they later caught.
Call the IRS at 1-8OO-829-0922 they should know how to explain to you why you got that see
Oh those wacky lard butts at the IRS. Never a dull moment next to those government flunkies.

Ok i called the county collections bureau in my state to ask how much i owe . they told me that i would own to come to the courthouse inorder to get that info see i substandard to report my change of address what will occur?
Answer:
The most likely idea they want you to come in is to show ID. They a moment ago want to make sure you're really who you right to be heard you are before they bequeath out your tax information.
Failing to report a correct of address isn't really the type of thing you'd be jailed for. Fined probably, but it's unlikely they'd actually put you contained by jail. They know that populace forget things like that. Besides, they hold real criminals to put aft bars so I doubt they'd gamble away the space on a hardened criminal such as yourself. ;)
Good luck!
No
Into the slammer with you!
no
Nothing they a short time ago have to confirm who you are contained by person they will not arrest you if you formulate some kind of pocket money plan.
It depends on why you failed to report your amend of address. Chances are you are not going to jail.
Nothing, but you involve to inform them now.
Employee Bonus Payout?
Question:
My Employer is paying out "gross" amount bonuses to all workforce and is telling us we are responsible to take-home pay taxes on them for 2007 - They are issuing 1099-Misc for these bonuses and not reporting them on our W-2 - can They do this and should I pay estimated tariff payments now to avoid penalty
Answer:
NO, absolutely NOT. The employer MUST duty all wages, and bonuses are wages. See here: http://www.irs.gov/publications/p15/ar02... for the taxing of bonuses (supplemental wages)
Depends on how much the bonus is. If its a substantial amount possibly. Check next to your tax preparer or phone the IRS toll free number
Yes, they can do this. The easiest way to cover the taxes is to increase your regular withholding by newly a bit for the remainder of the year. You could also make an estimated clearing in the quarter you receive the wage. Either way, manufacture sure you CYA!! ;-)
No, they CANNOT do that! They must withhold taxes from the payments. Irregular payments such as bonuses are withheld at a flat 25% unless you designate a higher amount to be withheld. They must be included on your Form W-2.
If your income from that employer if typically reported on a 1009, then they can. But if you're an hand who gets a W-2, as it sounds resembling you are from your question, afterwards no, it's not legal.
If you work for a small company, the employer might not realize this although they should.
If you return with the money that way, it's probably a correct idea to generate an estimated payment anyway, since if they do dispatch out 1099's, it could take awhile to seize it sorted out.
if you are a W-2 employee, they should not be 1099ing you.
depending on the amount and what your state is...I would prolly hold support 35 percent just surrounded by case. see your levy preparer.
